So you think hunting is about fancy gear and expensive licenses? Think again. I just spent two days deep in the Laos jungle learning techniques that haven't changed since Napoleon's time.
In northern Laos, centuries-old traditions are quickly disappearing. Only 16 families still make rice whisky the traditional way, and just five know how to turn tree bark into paper. My guide Years opened doors few outsiders see—his mother performed a soul-calling ritual, and his cousins taught me to hunt with ancient rifles. We spent a night in the jungle, surrounded by darkness, listening to predators close in.
Four families welcomed me into their world, sharing skills passed down for generations. By the end, I realized how much these ancient traditions matter and why we must protect them before they vanish. Watch the full adventure to see these traditions in action and learn why they’re worth preserving.
