This guitar was made by Jacques Favino in 1974 for Häns’che Weiss.
It's an exact duplicate of the guitar that was build for Biréli Lagrène (#371), most likely made simultaneously, fifty years ago.
It's an extremely rare D-hole, modele 10 and features a Spruce top and atypical Cypress back and sides. Because of the rare, bigger sound hole, the sound is much more open and less nasal compared to an oval hole gitane.
The guitar was completely restored and is now back in stunning shape and both playing and sounding fantastic again.
Häns’che Weiss was a Sinti guitarist from Germany who played a significant role in the revival of gypsy jazz from the late 1960s onwards. He is remembered not only for his fine playing and mentoring of younger musicians, but also for his cheerful on-stage persona.
