Pakistan is expected to experience a gradual transition from pre-monsoon conditions into the summer monsoon season during the next few months. During June, temperatures are likely to remain above normal across most parts of Punjab, Sindh, southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan. Heatwave conditions may develop intermittently, especially in central and southern Pakistan, while isolated dust storms and thunderstorms can bring temporary relief.
As we move into late June and July, monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are expected to strengthen. Northern and northeastern regions including Punjab, Islamabad, Azad Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are likely to receive frequent spells of rainfall. Farmers should closely monitor forecasts because heavy downpours may cause localized flooding, waterlogging, and crop management challenges.
July and August are expected to be the wettest months of the season. Above-average rainfall is possible in northeastern Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Urban flooding risks may increase in major cities during intense rain events, while river flows are expected to rise significantly due to both rainfall and glacier melting in northern areas.
Southern Pakistan, including Sindh and parts of southern Balochistan, may also receive several monsoon spells during July and August. However, rainfall distribution is often uneven in these regions, meaning some districts may receive heavy rains while others remain relatively dry. Cotton, rice, maize, and sugarcane growers should remain prepared for changing moisture conditions throughout the season.
Looking ahead to September, monsoon activity is expected to gradually weaken, though occasional rain spells may continue, particularly in northern Pakistan. Temperatures should begin to moderate as the season progresses. Overall, the next few months are expected to bring a combination of hot weather, periodic thunderstorms, and active monsoon rainfall, making weather monitoring especially important for agriculture and water management.
