Mojo Story's Nazia reports from Vechur village in Kottayam district of Kerala. A lot of people in this area have been infected with the coronavirus and therefore the administration has declared it as a containment zone. People who live here are mostly fishermen and daily wagers who go out to earn their livelihood but due to the strict restrictions on the movement, several of them have lost their jobs and finding it hard to survive under the COVID lockdown. We talked to Deepa, a social activist and Shantani, a ward officer who's responsible for health facilities and COVID management in the area regarding the loss of livelihood due to lockdown and its affect on the locals, prevailing condition of Covid infected patients, availability of medical and health infrastructure, the number of COVID deaths and the actions of the government to contain the spread of the coronavirus infection.
