Snow, Storms, and Three Weeks Without Sun in the Highlands.

Описание: For three weeks, the sun hasn’t appeared here in the Scottish Highlands. A biting easterly wind, freezing temperatures and endless grey skies have slowed everything down on our croft.

In this vlog, we deal with more winter damage after the wind rips what was left of our chicken enclosure roof. We temporarily rebuild with a heavy-duty tarpaulin while planning a full spring rebuild. We also test out a solar generator and battery system to bring light and heat to the enclosure during these long, dark Highland days.

Living remotely in the north of Scotland means making the most of what we have. We recycle our cardboard waste into fuel briquettes with a local neighbour, finding small, sustainable ways to stay warm and self-sufficient through winter.

But it’s not just the croft feeling the strain. Weeks without sunlight and constant wind have started to affect me too. I talk honestly about studio isolation, seasonal mood changes, mental health in winter, and my plans to get outside more, including launching a new online art gallery featuring my Highland photography. https://www.foxesafloat.com/gallery
