G Warrior 惑星战士G (PC / Steam) Completed 1 Credit, 1CC Normal ALL - Raishin [4K]

Описание: Being a big fan of old-school Contra games, I've had my eye on G Warrior since the demo dropped awhile back. I missed the launch couple of weeks back on Steam, but I purchased it this weekend since I had some free time to game.

As I expected, I really like G Warrior. It hit me right in the feels with it's precise gameplay, chip tune soundtrack, and nostalgic nods throughout. The weapons are heavily inspired by NES Contra and Super C, although they have been tuned a bit better so that Spread isn't always the best weapon for every situation. There's also a "secret" homing shot (see 4:03) which is great for speeding your way quickly through stages.

There are modern touches in the game, such as the lock position button which will let you change your direction of fire without moving. It felt very intuitive using a SNES-style 8bitdo USB gamepad with the lock position mapped to the Right Trigger, shot on Y, jump on B, and Bomb set to A. The game will let you stage select from the main menu after you clear a stage, so learning the game wasn't frustrating at all.

The Bomb mechanic creates a momentary shield and also gives you an "option" that fires another bullet when you fire (only if you have anything other than the base weapon). If you are using the "B" weapon type then it unleashes a massively powerful strike that can take down bosses almost instantly (1:49).

This run was played on Normal (default) difficulty using Raishin (the man) character. I initially chose him because his normal shots reach further on the screen. Guren Souki's (the woman) Spread shot seems to cancel enemy bullets, so it might be more useful on Hard difficulty.

I know I've only scratched the surface of this game; there's much more for those wanting to play it more in-depth. I really like that the game tracks your 10 fastest completion times when you beat a level - definitely great for speed-running!
