The Golden Spike Can Can Dancers perform at the 36th Golden Spike Days Festival at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody, BC, Canada on Canada Day, Sunday, July 1, 2012.
The Golden Spike Can Can Dancers (GSCCD) is an energetic group of ladies who volunteer their time and energy into practicing and dancing to raise money for different charities and are sponsored by the Pleasantside Community Association, a registered non-profit organization.
The GSCCD have performed at the Golden Spike Days festival for over 30 years and in recent years, they have hosted a booth at the celebration site where they sell garters and take pictures with visitors to raise money. Throughout the rest of the year, they perform and make appearances at fundraisers, casino nights, golf tournaments and other special events.
From the donations that they accept for the performances, 100 percent of it is given to a charity that is chosen by the group. Past charities that they have supported include the Variety Club of BC, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Alzheimer Society of BC and the Crossroads Hospice.
