During the British colonial rule in the early 1900s, thousands of Indians—Hindus and Sikhs—were brought here as workers on railways, plantations, and infrastructure projects. More than a century later, their descendants are still living here, preserving their faith, culture, and traditions in a foreign land.
In this video, I explore Kalaw’s Hindu temples and Sikh Gurdwaras, meet the people, and learn about their struggles and resilience. This is the untold story of Indians in Myanmar—a living connection between two countries.
