Kurono has recently banned men from getting an allocation in its latest "Seiji" watch. I discuss their argued logic, why this is a repugnant idea, and the likely sales and marketing related reasons. In many countries, this decision would be prima facie illegal, in addition to being morally questionable.
The likely reason for the decision is to broaden its sales base, increase its customer database, and sell to customers who need to be referred. And, by virtue of needing to be referred, are more likely to be "retail" buyers. [Note: they specifically have existing customers refer their female acquaintences, suggesting they are looking for buyers who have historically paid less attention to the brand or the market].
