Описание: Did you know that the story behind Diwali also tells of the defeat of a powerful demon king, Narakasura? Born from Bhumi Devi, the Earth goddess, and the Varaha avatar of Lord Vishnu, Narakasura’s rule began with piety but turned to tyranny. His rise to power came with cruelty, capturing celestial treasures and imprisoning 16,000 women. Despite his lineage, Narakasura’s darkness brought distress to heaven and Earth alike, and he could only be killed by his mother due to a divine boon. Yet Bhumi Devi could not bear to end her son’s life, leaving the heavens in despair.

Enter Lord Krishna, who took up the call to end Narakasura's tyranny. With his wife, Satyabhama—an incarnation of Bhumi Devi—Krishna devised a clever plan. On the battlefield, as the two faced Narakasura, Krishna feigned injury, allowing Satyabhama’s divine power and maternal spirit to rise. Fueled by the sight of her beloved husband in danger, she delivered the final blow, ending Narakasura’s reign and restoring peace.

Upon his defeat, the women imprisoned by Narakasura were freed, but they feared returning home with dignity. Compassionate and wise, Krishna assured them they could reclaim their honor and suggested they identify as his wives if questioned. This gesture of respect restored their lives, symbolizing a powerful theme of dignity and compassion.

Naraka Chaturdashi, the day before Diwali, celebrates the defeat of Narakasura. The lamps that light homes on Diwali honor not only the victory over evil but also the liberation and protection of the innocent. Krishna and Satyabhama’s story reminds us of the triumph of light over darkness and of the divine compassion that underpins this beloved festival. Join us as we unravel this epic tale that shapes the essence of Diwali and reminds us of the profound symbolism behind each Diwali lamp.
