Improving your upper back mobility is tricky because it's connected to the rest of your spine.
When you try to stretch your thoracic area, your lower spine ends up stretching too. This is a problem because the lower spine can actually move so much during thoracic extension exercises that you end up stretching it instead.
The goal of any good mobility exercise is to isolate the area you want to target. In this case thoracic extension.
To do this you can:
🔵Place your feet against a wall or bench
🔵Place a roller or medicine ball somewhere on your thoracic
🔵Maintain deep hip flexion to lock your lower spine in place and stop it compensating as you extend over the roller
