Chanderi fort is situated in the center of the Matheran mountain range. At 790 metres ( 2591 feet 10.362 inches ), it is one of the highest points. There is a cave in its huge rock massif, waterfalls, temple. The route up to the cave is a normal trekking route. From the cave, an exposed trail leads one to the topmost part of the fort. It is a risky climb in the rainy season. The view from the top is excellent. It was used as a watch-tower in olden days. A beautiful statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is situated on the top. For trekking to Chanderi, the base village is Chincholi (approachable from Badlapur & Vangani railway stations by road).


Chanderi Fort lies in Vangani, Badlapur region. Over 700m tall this fort has always remained indomitable with difficult trek approach and beautiful nature wonders on the way.

Chanderi Fort, in the Matheran hill range is a small trek with a fort at the center of it. A day long trek in the Kalyan area, is a breather for people from Mumbai and Pune.
