Time to Shake Things Up is a song in which the singer experiences a series of three earthquakes that get him to think that it's time to shake things up in his life, too. He has been experiencing the same old things, and he feels the ground is screaming out for him to make changes as well. He feels it's time to leave the job he hates, call the friends he misses, and take a trip he has been talking about. So by the time the third earthquake hits, he decides its time to leave and travel to new places and find the new life he has dreamed about. So now he feels more free. Just like the earthquake shook the earth, he felt it time for a shakeup in his life.
