Blank Canvas of Calm State episode 3 of 6
Blank Canvas of Calm State is an experimental series that will consist of 6 videos exploring musicians’ online experience of the difference between showcasing one’s original work and an interpretation of a well known song. It is to observe the fluctuating attention an artist can receive when introducing a new piece of music that requires curiosity and openness of the audience, or when rendering a familiar and safe tune that a listener would already know or like and therefore would be inclined to listen to.
Blank Canvas is the idea of a blank space which is to be filled with an interpretation and rendition of a well know song.
Seb Kerrbay will be playing 6 songs either solo or accompanied by his musician friends, giving those songs a different take within his and their particular artistic and expressive idiom and showcasing his and their musical feel and style.
After the whole series Seb will try to summaries the experience of interactions among musicians involved, how easy or difficult it was to approach various songs and leave your own characteristic trait on them. Also the series is about considering the difference in interaction of the audience with material they would already be familiar with. To examine whether it makes any impact on the level of attention listeners would be ready and happy to yield comparing to finding original material they would have to be open-minded about.
For the third episode of Blank Canvas of Calm State Seb chose a song by Disturbed - Prayer. It is a solo rendition – acoustic guitar and voice.
