I have ben experimenting with different ways to mold these spherical speaker enclosures. Some features were too thin to mold with fiberglass molds so I made a silicone rubber mold that worked. Now I can mold a speaker shell in two pieces instead of three, but there is a lot of work involved in gluing the two halves together and polishing gelcoat so the seam doesn't show.
Last time, I experimented with some rubber molds sold on Amazon for casting transparent spheres out of clear resin. The mold could stretch enough to let the round part out.
This time, I make my own one piece silicone rubber mold to form the smaller of the two prototype speaker enclosures. If the speaker shells can be molded in one piece, this saves a day or more of joining two halves and hiding the seam.
