I’ve Climbed The Forbidden Peak In The Rwenzori Mountains

Описание: For the project Peaks Of Africa, i’ve been travelling around the continent in search of the 10 highest peaks, these peaks are found in Tanzania with the Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak & in Kenya with Mount Kenya, Batian Peak. With the remaining 8 all located in the Rwenzori Mountains in Uganda. It took me 16 days to reach all the summits which involved: crossing a crevasse during the early morning hours trying to reach Margherita Peak, walking with armed rangers as the area was dangerous, witnessing unique landscapes and vegetation and ofcourse finishing my 9-month long Peaks Of Africa Journey.

The Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the “Mountains of the Moon,” are a spectacular mountain range located on the border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They are known for their glacier-capped peaks, diverse ecosystems, and stunning scenery.
The area spans about 7800km2 so it’s no surprise that they consist of 6 major mountains groups all with their own peaks. Here are the ones i climbed:

Mount Emin - Umberto Peak 4,798 m (15,741 ft)

Mount Gessi - Lolanda Peak 4,715 m (15,469 ft)

Mount Speke - Vittorio Emanuele 4,890 m (16,043 ft)

Mount Stanley - Margherita Peak 5,109 m (16,762 ft) / Albert Peak 5087m (16,690 ft)

Mount Luigi di Savoia - Sella Peak 4,627 m (15,180 ft) / Weisman Peak 4620m (15,157 ft)

Mount Baker - Edward Peak 4844m (15,892 ft)
