In this video, I'll be giving you a tour of the historic coal town of Lynch, Kentucky. Known as the "Town that Built America," Lynch was established in 1917 by U.S. Steel and named after Thomas Lynch, the "Father of Mine Safety."
Back in 1917, Lynch boasted the world's tallest coal tipple and was home to the first fully electric coal mine in the United States. Just a mile away, you'll find our flagship trail, the Dragonslayer Highway 160. With freshly paved roads, 226 curves, no rumble strips, and a 55 mph speed limit, it's the perfect spot to test your beloved machine.
We'll explore the Train Depot, visit an old mine entrance where workers toiled each day, and discuss Appalachia and Backroads' mission to bring prosperity to the mountains through motorsports tourism.
