Shooting and reviewing the Taurus Judge with 2.5" chamber and 3" barrel in stainless finish. You've seen it in movies and on TV, and you've surely heard about it online and/or in magazines. Is it worth the hype? YES! ... and no. Depends on what you're expecting out of it.
Is it an awesome CCW piece? No. Is it great for home defense? Yes. Is it a good anti-carjacking weapon? Maybe. Is it fun? HELL YES. It's a revolver that tries to wear many hats, and while it CAN fill many roles, it will never be "the best" at any one of them. But really, what gun is? Ideally, this revolver best suits three kinds of folks: 1. Those who want only one gun and have no intentions of buying anything else, so they need a "jack of all trades"; 2. Those who saw it on a movie/TV show and just want it for the cool/fun factor; 3. Someone (like me) that has no real "NEED" for it, but can still oftentimes use it to fill a given role, either as a substitute for something unavailable or as something different just for the spice of variety in one's collection.
Whatever the case, it's a great revolver for what it is - basically, a short-barreled .410 shotgun that can also shoot .45 Long Colt ammo - it works reliably, and it will definitely put a grin on your face at the shooting range without putting a huge dent in your budget. Well ... except for the fact that .45 LC ammo is outrageously expensive...
