Stephen Lam Chan, MD, FRCP, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China, addresses the serious challenge of immune-related adverse events in patients with liver cancer receiving immunotherapy. Grade 3-4 hepatitis occurs in 10-20% of patients, requiring high-dose steroids for worsening liver function. Patients with baseline liver dysfunction face increased risk of liver failure despite prompt steroid treatment. Prof. Lam Chan emphasizes the critical need for early identification and aggressive treatment of these adverse events. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancer 2025 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
