The Founders of Masau Craft Distillery (MCD) belong to the Porefa Family whose ancestors settled in Zimbabwe from Mozambique where they worked in the mines and farms. Through the years the Porefa Family brewed and distilled Masau to make alcoholic spirits known as Kachasu, used for family functions and traditional ceremonies.
Lameck grew up helping his uncle and aunt as well as grandmother in the making of Kachasu and thus learning first-hand the art and science of craft distilling. This would come in handy as he sets out to establish his own distillery years later as 3rd generation distiller of the Porefa Family. The legacy being built is set to last for generations to come, as the 4th generation is already being trained about farming of Masau fruit trees which will begin to bear fruit in 5 years’ time when MCD aims to launch their first Whisky to the World in 2027. #entrepreneurs #drinks #drinksouthafrican #cocktailrecipes #distillerytour
