Market Internals are measurements that serve to provide additional context about the broader stock market performance. It gives insight into what’s happening beneath the surface.These measurements can be used to confirm a trade thesis, identify divergences. generate a directional bias and form a view on realized volatility.

The Internals we cover in this video include, Put Call Ratio (PCC, PCE) , Advance Decline Line (ADD), Volume Difference (VOLD), TICK Index (TICK) and Relative Sector Performance.

The Put /Call ratio is a sentiment indicator and compares the total put options traded by the total call options traded.

Advance Decline compares the total number of stocks that are advancing on the day by the total number of stocks that are declining on the day.

Volume Difference compares the total daily volume flowing into advancing stocks by the total daily volume flowing into declining stocks.

TICK compares the total number of stocks that are trading on an uptick by the total number of stocks that are trading on a down tick.

Sector performance is technically not a market internal, however, it has great utility in determining risk on/risk off sentiment.
