One blue tit had been asleep in the nest for 15 minutes when a second tries to get in too, the one in the nest tries to scare it off, but a fight breaks out. Lots of feathers are lost before one is eventually forced to leave. I think it was the intruder rather than the one already asleep that left but it's hard to tell.
Hopefully a few lost feather was the only injury. They look all cute and fluffy when sleeping, they are tiny little birds but they will defend their territory, during the day they quite often bully the great tit off the feeder.
There is a second slightly larger nest with a great tit sized hole about 8m away, maybe one will start to sleep in that.
