2. Give the Snake Space – If it’s moving, let it go. If it curls up, that’s defense mode — back away slowly.
3. Stick to the Trails – Most encounters happen off-path. Stay where visibility is clear and safe.
4. Watch Every Step – Use trekking poles and be mindful of where your feet and hands go.
5. Never Provoke a Rattlesnake – Don’t run, scream, or try to hit it. That’s how bites happen.
