3 Step Edgework Hockey Goalie Skating Drill (progression)

Описание: This is a 3 part skating drill for goalies. This can be used for goalies at pretty much every level of play, or modified to suit your needs the best. This is one of the most basic skating drills a goalie can do, and it's one that should be done frequently.

If you look at pro goalies like Carter Hart and Carey Price, both of them are ELITE skaters. Of course, every goalie in the NHL is a good skater. But, Hart and Price are above the rest in terms of their skating ability. When Price is on, he's one of the top 4 goalies in the NHL, without question. Hart hasn't proven himself over an extrapolated period of time like Price has done, but it can easily be argued that Carter is one of the leagues top up and coming goalies.

So what sets Price and Hart apart? It's their commitment to developing their skating ability. No matter what, spending time improving your skating ability will make you a better goalie.

This is a simple skating drill that can be a pre-practice warm up or at any time, really. As you can see, the options for adding in certain skating techniques or different progression to this drill is incredibly easy, do it at your own discretion.

The one big thing to note in this skating drill and in every skating drill/drill period is the focus on controlling the body and moving together in one big fluid motion. During the video, you'll see Jerry's eyes lagging behind just a bit--so Rob corrects them mid drill.

These are two elite goalies (Dillon Kelley and Jerry Kuhn) who's years of experience make it look easy, but it's so important to learn from them and to improve your technique.
