The National Kidney and Transplant Institute is operating beyond capacity, with 75 patients in the emergency room instead of the ideal 35.
Most of the patients, who are undergoing dialysis, experiencing leptospirosis, or have COVID-19, could not be transferred to the wards because they are fully occupied.
The NKTI has an option to convert their gym to a ward, but is unable to do so because they are lacking 100 nurses to take care of patients.
