Roy also clarified that these MPs would neither form a separate party nor merge with the BJP; instead, they would function as a distinct bloc within the Lok Sabha. Satabdi Roy was previously considered one of Mamata Banerjee's close associates; she has been an MP for four consecutive terms since 2009, representing the Birbhum constituency and having served as the TMC's Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha. However, she is now leading the rebel faction, and a meeting of the rebel MPs was held at her residence.
