This video shows my process for hot-rodding an off the shelf foam airplane. First I determine the goals and plan the approach. Then the plane is disassembled and non-essential parts are removed. Next, new parts are designed (if necessary) and 3D printed. Final assembly and maiden test flight complete the project.
New parts used to complete the project:
Flite Test 2207-2400 motor (this is a beast for its size)
Vgood 20A ESC (light and dependable)
HQ 6x3 propeller
Results:
50 gram weight reduction (not including main landing gear since it was already removed). Parts removed and or replaced: Motor, propeller, esc, rear tail wheel and linkage, drop tanks, gyro (this gyro was already removed...it is junk)
Note: I have had poor luck with the Hobby King gyros on the little warbirds and blame them for crashing the Corsair and Hurricane that I used to have. Maybe the new/next generation of gyros are better...hopefully.
Повторяем попытку...
