I have dreamed of Ballscrews for my 3040 CNC, ever since I learned about them, which was some months after buying one using Leadscrews! Well, it suddenly became a "no choice" situation that needed fixing, and what a lengthy, frustrating, challenging, and reasonably rewarding adventure awaited.
This video document a reasonable portion of the journey without getting too long. Maybe I have some follow-on vids of some CNC work I chose to exclude.
P.S. I forgot to say in the video that the "-X" piled up after a few passes on the original runs, so much so that the End Mill would eventually knock the block off the sticky tape; even using extra sticky tape; even extra sticky tape against a stainless steel sheet tacked down to the spoilboard.
