Dangerous overtaking, an insecure load falling into the path of motorists and even a car being driven the wrong way up a busy dual carriageway – these are just some of the offences captured on camera and submitted to Operation Snap.
The Vision Zero South West road safety partnership has released video footage of several submissions from members of the public, which includes close passes of cyclists, several near misses involving pedestrians, cars mounting pavements and one motorist driving up a grass bank on a dual carriageway.
Last year (2024) was another record year for Op Snap with submissions rising to 6,272, taking the overall number of submissions to more than 20,600 since the scheme was set up in 2019.
Responsible road users have been praised for submitting video footage via the online portal and contributing towards wider road safety ambitions in the region.
