Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan is being held, has been placed under one of the highest security alerts in recent years amid persistent intelligence warnings of a possible attack and growing national concern over Khan’s whereabouts and safety, CNN-News18 has learnt.
Intelligence sources said the prison “could be attacked anytime", prompting Islamabad and Punjab Police to deploy 2,500 additional personnel around the jail perimeter. Five new security check-posts have been established in Dahgal Area, Jail Gate No. 1, Gate No. 5, Factory Naka and the Gorakhpur zone of Rawalpindi.
