For those unfamiliar with the Kibbe body type system, it was created by David Kibbe as a reaction against the fruit body type in the 80's in his book Metamorphosis. It categorizes body types into 5 main categories (Romantic, Dramatic, Classic, Natural and Gamine). Each main category has 2 sub categories giving a total of 10 body types (Romantic, Theatrical romantic, Soft Dramatic, Dramatic, Soft Classic, Dramatic Classic, Soft Natural, Flamboyant Natural, Soft Gamine, Flamboyant Gamine). He calls each category a Image ID. I use this term interchangeably with body type. There are different styling recommendations for each Image ID. With the clever use of shape, form, cut, texture, patterns and colours, you can disguise your flaws and highlight your features when dressing, choosing a hair cut and maybe even beauty routines.
You cannot change body types with weight gain or loss or even aging. This is because each category describes height, facial proportions, bone and cartilage, flesh and weight gain patterns. While you can appear more soft when you gain weight and more sharp when you loss weight or age, your bone structure stays the same.
In this video we will look at what Kibbe Yang means in men. He doesn't write much about men in his book, however after studying his men's chapters and looking at his list of male celebrities, it is clear that Yang for men means very similar things to Yang for women. It is important to not that Yang doesn't mean masculine and Yin doesn't mean feminine. Although most of the features map to the natural dimorphism between men and women, it doesn't map perfectly.
Everyone has a mixture of Yin and Yang features, the amount of each will determine which Image ID you are.
