There are two groceries stores, a hardware store, plenty of restaurants and little shops for necessities as well as a gym and both local and international schools. You won't find a Wal-Mart or Mcdonald's here so if you are looking for the old comforts of home you may want to head into San Isidro which is 45 minutes up the mountain and is the second largest city in Costa Rica next to San Jose.

Uvita is also home to the Bahia Ballena National Park which features some of the most amazing beaches you've ever seen with a stunning rock formation of a whale's tail. This area is a hub for eco tourism, yoga retreats and healthy lifestyles. People are friendly and helpful and you can really feel a sense of what Costa Rica has to offer.
