Описание: ”Kongur føddur er” translates to ”A king is born”. The song starts with Mary. She is far away from home and births her son in poor conditions. The contrast between Christ in his heavenly glory and being a baby, lulled to sleep in the arms of young Mary, without a crib to lay in, is the subject of the song. Mary had prior been visited by an angel, who said that all this would happen – and the message became true. The angel also said that the child would be the Son of the most High, and a king whose kingdom will be everlasting. What was on Mary’s mind, when she laid her son to sleep in the animals’ feed bin – he, who should become a king? The newborn that she is comforting and rocking to sleep, is in reality the salvation for all the world, and one day every knee will kneel before him. But in this very moment, Christ is a baby child who – even though the surroundings are insecure – is fast asleep, safe in his mother’s arms.
