Does Madrone Make Good Lumber? Let's Find Out on Woodmizer LT15 Sawmill

Описание: Does madrone, or madrona as some call it, make good lumber? I put a couple madrone logs on my Woodmizer LT15 sawmill and make lumber out of them. Madrone is a broadleaf evergreen with hard dense wood. Madrone is of course a hardwood, not so much because its wood is hard, more technically so because it comes from a broadleaf tree. Madrone is prized as a superior wood for firewood. It also makes beautiful lumber. Madrone lumber can be hard to dry straight though. It tends to warp as it dries. I cut some madrone lumber last year. I stickered it and put some weight on it to try to get it to dry straight. We will take a look at that and see how it is doing.
