AKTINA TV Report: FCAO Commemorates The Freedom of Cyprus From The British - EOKA Struggle 1955-59

Описание: AKTINA TV™ report with Elena Maroulleti, Executive Producer/Host, covering a very moving event held in Queens on April 6, 2025, dedicated to the heroes of Cyprus who fought against British colonization between 1955 and 1959.

Known as the EOKA struggle, the uprising of Greek Cypriots launched on April 1, 1955, led to the freedom of Cyprus and the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus in early 1960. Hosted by the Federation of Cypriot American Organizations (FCAO), the event began with a video presentation about EOKA and continued with historical readings and poetry recited by students of the Holy Cross Greek School in Whitestone, Queens and youth members of Greek Cypriot American organizations. Patriotic songs were also performed by the Pancyprian Choir under the direction of Phytos Stratis.

The successful event was warmly welcomed by a full house of guests and was greeted by community leaders and Greek and Cypriot officials. This AKTINA TV™ report features interviews with young students, as well as with Michalis Firillas, Consul General of Cyprus to New York, Kyriakos Papastylianou, President of FCAO and Savas Tsivicos, Supreme President of AHEPA.
