Greenlights Music is a live Hip Hop collaborative from the city of Chicago. Normally consisting of 6 emcees and backed by a full band they are something special to experience live. They have been compared to The Roots, J 5, Hieroglyphics, Pharcyde, Wu-Tang, Tribe Called Quest and others. Though they are reminiscent of early 90’s Hip Hop, the group is not afraid to push the envelope on what direction the culture and art is heading. Most of their songs are subject driven with positive and relatable messages about everyday life. That being said, the crew of rappers are not to be taken lightly. Super skilled and battle tested, these emcees are some of the best Chicago has to offer. Not to be overshadowed is one of the most important members of Greenlights Music. Willow Wells is well known as one of the best female soul singers in Chicago. Her melodic vocal tones and aggressive lyrics create a sort of creative canvass the emcees can use to create their messages and subject matters. If you have seen Greenlights Music live it is a beautiful and dynamic experience. The band consists of drums, guitar, bass, two saxophones, and keys. Though it has a lot of moving parts, the group works symbiotically and gives off an amazing positive vibe.
