Inside views, Factory Production Expansion & Big Deliveries! 25 Oct 2024 Giga Texas Update (07:05AM)

Today I decided to do a pre-dawn flight to get a feel for the amount of construction, additions and equipment installation that is visible and compare this with the information we got from Tesla during the recent 3rd Quarter Financial Results meeting. In particular, Tesla mentioned they are on track for production of at least two lower cost vehicles based on the Model 3 and Model Y. These are intended to be produced on the same production lines as the Model 3 and Model Y to help speed the products to market. Tesla recommitted to this production beginning in the first half of 2025!

Additionally, Tesla said the Robotaxi production will begin in 2025 and hit volume production in 2026, up to 2 million vehicles in 2026 to be exact! For this to actually happen, Giga Texas, which will be the first to produce the Robotaxi, must have the production equipment installed and the interior spaces configured properly.

We use the opportunity to look inside during this early morning to see where some of the new production lines are being set up and also, I fly to the west staging lots to see some of the new equipment for these production lines, some of which are being unwrapped while more new deliveries in wooden crates and silver-wrapped containers are being stockpiled nearby.

I also cover several other items of interest from the 3rd quarter financial results meeting in the video introduction and I try to relate these to what we will see at Giga Texas in the coming year. This includes Tesla hitting a world-wide 7 millionth vehicle produced, the Cortex Supercomputer system is already at 29K NVIDAI H100 GPUS operational now, rising to 50K by the end of October and then scaling up from there at the end of the year and through 2025. This is a vital component to the training for FSD and the Optimus Robot.

A few other highlights to look for include:

The Boring Company has delivered more upgraded and manufactured road surface panels conspicuously marked "OK" in green and/or red spray paint. These are rapidly being installed inside the tunnel, working from the east exit through the tunnel and to the west exit. Nearby, crews are completing the conduit installation with red concrete poured and trenching being filled back in.

Also nearby, a square excavation with 8 deep concrete piles is under construction. Although not entirely clear if this is related to the tunnel or the newly installed natural gas pipeline, it is one more piece of infrastructure nearing completion. This is a good sign the tunnel may be getting close to operation.

Work on the south end terracing and the three exit tunnels appear nearly completed. The next items to be added is a paved roadway on the top tier, a concrete walkway on the middle level and probably rip rap (broken up stones) on the lowest level near the Cyberpond.

The cooling plant on the SE side of the new building extension has five of the 6 riser pipes installed and several of the fans on the top are operating this morning. The main manifold connection to the Cortex cooling system in the extension still appears to need connecting pipes installed before the entire cooling system can be operational, but that time appears to be near.

Glass panels installation on the west side of the building extension continues, with about 25% now completed. More of the trim panels around the already installed glass panes appear to have been installed, while the mounting tabs and frames for the next sections of the glass panels are already in place and ready for more glass to be installed.
