Are Beverage and Milk Cartons Recyclable?
There are two main types of liquid beverage cartons: gable cartons (usually in the refrigerated area) and aseptic cartons. Aseptic cartons, in particular, are the most used and have the widest range of uses. They are made of about 74% paper, 22% plastic, and 4% aluminum foil.
For many years, recyclers believed that aseptic cartons were difficult to recycle because they were made of multiple layers of plastic, paper, and aluminum. But the good news is that we have professional equipment to separate paper from plastic.
The complete recycling line consists of a shredder, a hydraulic paper-plastic separator, a paper pulp separator, a pulp dewatering machine and a pulp filter press. Finally, the aluminum-plastic film and plastic film enter the granulator for reprocessing and reuse; while the pulp can be recycled into industrial or daily raw materials, such as shoe midsoles, kraft paper, hangers, flower pots, tables and chairs, notebooks, etc.
