I got a GIGANTIC CSX Street Running Train With A DPU In The Middle. The train is in the middle of William Street in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. The fog was so thick that it could barely be seen so the crew used the horn all the way through town. This is a long section of street running that is used by CSX and Indiana & Ohio Railway. I&O uses it to access a spur that serves a distillery.
This CSX line runs from Louisville, Kentucky to Seymour, Indiana and then east to Cincinnati. Trains run from Louisville to Cincinnati. Trains going in the other direction from Cincinnati to Louisville use a different line. They use the CSX Short Line which goes through LaGrange, Kentucky. The line in this video only sees a few trains a day. I was in Indiana from 7am until almost 4pm and only got one train.
Due to a lack of trains I went across the river to Crescent Springs, Kentucky where I knew I could get a couple trains. Shortly after I got there I hear Train #171 approaching southbound. They broke down on the hill due to software problems in the leading locomotive. They shut the computer down and did a bunch of button pushing and got her running. The engineer can be seen in the second locomotive since the leading unit had troubles. I also got a grain train easing down the hill.
While I was in Indiana I took a look at some old B&O signals that are on borrowed time. We also see a farm for sale and the railroad goes right through the 77.5 acre parcel. We also see a train station in Aurora and one in Lawrenceburg. Driving along the Ohio River on the way to Crescent Springs I found a local with a caboose. One of these days I will get that caboose moving past me.
I just found out that the bridge over the Ohio River at Louisville, Ky is locked in the up position during the day and trains usually wait until about 8 or 9 pm to use the LIRR.
