HTMS Prasae Memorial, Rayong, Thailand, 2023 01 24 ( filmed with drone )

Описание: This old ship, now a memorial and museum, has been laying here in Rayong at the mouth of the river with the same name, Prasae, since December 2003.
It actually started as a US Navy Frigate in 1944 and served in the end of WW2 and then served in the Soviet Navy between August 1945 until November 1949 before returning to the US Navy.
Also served in the Korean War from 1950 - 1951 before ending it's service in the Thai Navy from 1951 until June 2000.
It had a sister ship named Glendale that came to the Thai Navy at the same time, which got the name HTMS Tachin.

It's a good sized ship, reminds me a little of the HTMS Mae Klong in Bangkok I saw, and had a armament of three 3"/50 dual purpose guns ( 2 in the front and 1 in the back ), four 40 mm guns ( in pairs ), nine 20 mm guns ( singel guns ), one Hedgehog anti-submarine mortar and also two depth charge tracks.

The ship is open for the public and easy to visit and you can explore most of the ship except for the inside.
Also free to visit, at least when I was here 2023 01 24, and seems to be open most days.
Well worth a visit if you're in the area.
