Trump Orders US to Withdraw from 66 World Organizations

The order involves 31 United Nations (UN) organizations and 35 non-UN entities, the White House said. However, it did not immediately provide the names of the organizations.

However, the AFP report stated that of the 66 international organizations, one of them is a fundamental climate organization and the main international scientific assessment body on global warming, which is an organization under the auspices of the UN.

Trump is known to have withdrawn Washington from several world bodies during his second term. Previously, on his first day as US President, Trump also withdrew the US from the World Health Organization (WHO).

According to the White House's official website on Tuesday (January 21, 2025), Trump, using his authority as president under the United States Constitution and law, decided to withdraw from the WHO. Trump called the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic the WHO's fault.

"The United States recognized its withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2020 due to the organization's mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic that emerged in Wuhan, China, and other global health crises," the White House statement said.
