Today my instructor threw this curve ball at me; during the climb out he pulled the power to 4,000 RPM and told me that this was all the engine could give. He hadn't briefed me on this and we'd never done this exercise before. I decided to create a shorter circuit, tighter to the airfield, to complete a safe landing into wind.
