Описание: This precious little cichlid from India, Etroplus canarensis, commonly known as the Canara Pearlspot Chromide or the Roman Numeral Chromide is not a common fish. Rare in the hobby, it is, bar none, the most social cichlid that I have ever had the pleasure of keeping. Imagine ... cichlids that actually like one another's company. It is one of only three cichlids endemic to India, the others being the Green Chromide, Etroplus suratensis, and the Orange Chromide, Pseudetroplus maculatus and is the only one of the three strictly found in fresh water. They are closely related to the Madagascan Dambas in that genus Etroplus from India and Paretroplus from Madagascar both have a common origin. In this newly set up 90G (360L) tank, there are 20 canarensis and 7 Paretroplus kieneri, the so-called Calico Damba. Kieneri is the smallest of the Paretroplus genus, maxing out at around 5" standard length. The two species coexist extremely well. It is amusing to see a canarensis that has wandered off by itself, suddenly realizing that it is alone, and high tailing it back to the group, almost in a panic.
