The waves on that shore crashed and retreated, just as moments do. Now we've left and I'm watching this footage. I'm not just watching a memory; I'm witnessing time itself, crystallized and cruel in its beauty.
This is what I've come to understand: the terrible gift of parenthood is to love something that changes every day, to hold onto something that's always slipping away, to be present for a childhood that's already becoming a story.
Love, I've learned, is not possession—it's witnessing. It's being there for the wave as it kisses the sand, knowing it will retreat, knowing it will never come back in quite the same way.
But oh, how beautiful it was while it lasted.

We're so excited to share the amazing memories we made during our two months living like locals on this beautiful island. From watching the kids enjoy a backyard for the first time in years to taking an epic ski trip to Hokkaido, this journey was one for the books!
