In this archival video we have John's first hosting experience at the Grammy's in 1978, in which he sings a medley of the songs nominated for Song of the Year. His range and professionalism at singing many types of songs is readily apparent. In 1979 he did the same, but also included is the opening monologue. (His nervous laugh was evidence that he needed better monologue writers.)
