Greetings! I’m Craig Smyser with Fiv Realty. If you’ve got the urge to see giraffes, rhinos, and zebras, but don’t have time for a trip to Africa, then I’ve got a place for you. We’re going to explore Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch on this road trip episode of Discover Austin.

Located about an hour from downtown Austin, Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch is a Texas Style African Safari. It’s a 450 acre natural, protected environment with a variety of different ways to interact with the animals. They have over 500 animals of 45 species including some which are native to the area, others that are exotic, and some that are endangered.

It’s probably best known for the drive-through safari portion, but they’ve got the Walk-A-Bout which is a zoo-like area to view gibbons, spider monkeys, lemurs, and more. There’s a petting zoo with some very entertaining goats. And don’t be surprised to see peafowl roaming around the area, too. Of course, there is a gift shop and a restaurant as well.

Natural Bridge has two prominent conservation programs. One is for the giraffes and the other for rhinos. They partner with larger conservation organizations to help educate visitors about the situations these animals face.

While on the safari, you may get a chance to see kangaroos, gazelles, emus, bongos, camels, ostrich, zebras, llamas, white rhinos, antelopes, wildebeests, and many more.
