Video log of an afternoon visit to North Bear Creek in Winneshiek County on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
This section of North Bear Creek contains wild brown trout and holdover rainbow trout (and, as it turns out, one other wild game fish species rarely encountered in this creek).
My morning target creek in Minnesota had prohibitive ice cover when I arrived. I decided to stop at this backup location on the way home, hoping to salvage my day of winter tenkara in the cooperative weather.
