And he told me, 'Fight for me, don't give up. Please yell what I can't yell, please help me to get out.' He told me 'I'm scared as hell.' This was the last sentence, 'I'm scared as hell."

"After about nine days, the house next to us was bombed and they decided to move us because all the walls came from, like, tumbling down on us with glass and everything. So they brought in an ambulance, disguised David as a corpse, covered him with a white sheet, put me in a traditional Arab clothes, puts Yuli in my hands with a sheet over her and told me to look down. They put us inside the ambulance, which took us to the hospital in Khan Younis, which we stayed there up until the end."

12. SOUNDBITE (English) Sharon Alony Cunio, released hostage:
"The basic thing that they took from us, our independence of basic things like go to the bathroom. My kids had to do. They had to pee in the sink and do number twos in the trash because you cannot, but you can never know when they open. Sometimes it would take 5 minutes, sometimes it could take 2 hours, like animals in a cage."

"When we were moved to the hospital, it got severe because we only got pita bread which was moldy, and this box of feta cheese, which is supposed to be in the fridge, but we can't, so we just opened it and ate it. We all had diarrhea and throwing up. And at noontime, around three or four usually, they brought us this plate with rice, very spicy rice and a little piece of meat. It was like six of those for 12 people so a lot of people, which I'm thankful for, took out food from their mouths for our girls."

It was devastating to me because me and David always talked about that the one thing we would never be cheap about is food."
