This is the teaching of the Holy Quran.
Allah Almighty says:
"Indeed, Allah does not forgive shirk, but He forgives whatever sin He wills besides that."
(Surah An-Nisa 4:48)
That is, Allah Almighty can forgive every sin, but not shirk - because shirk is the greatest injustice against the Oneness of Allah.

This belief is the foundation of monotheism — that is, Allah is One, He is worthy of worship, and He has no partner.

Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran:

"Indeed, Allah does not forgive that partners should be associated with Him, and He forgives anything other than that to whom He wills"

(Surah An-Nisa, verse 48)

Translation: Indeed, Allah does not forgive the sin of associating partners with Him, and He forgives anything other than that to whom He wills.

That is, associating partners with Him is the greatest sin, and if a person dies without repenting, Allah Almighty does not forgive him.

But if someone repents and believes, Allah Almighty forgives all sins, as He said:
“Except for those who repent, believe, and do righteous deeds, for those Allah will replace their evil deeds with good deeds”
(Surah Al-Furqan, verse 70)
