The National Sports Governance Act, 2025, has officially become law after receiving President Droupadi Murmu’s assent. The Act introduces major reforms in Indian sports, including the creation of a National Sports Board to oversee all federations, including the BCCI. Sports bodies receiving government funds will now come under RTI. The Act also eases eligibility rules for top posts in sports bodies to encourage younger and athlete leaders.
